It’s all happening this weekend, that’s for sure.
Firstly, the Annual Hot Rod and Street Machine Spectacular is on Saturday and Sunday at the Burswood Dome.
This is always a top show with some of Perth’s best Hot Rod’s, Customs and Street Machines. The carpark outside the Dome main entrance is always full and constantly changing with more Rods and muscle. The show is in it’s 13th year and is regarded around Australia as one show not to miss in Perth.
The show is on August 28 and 29 from 9-8 Saturday and 9-5 Sunday. Admission is Adults $20. Free entry for accompanied children 12 and under. $10 for Pensioners.

After an absence last year, Autosalon returned to Perth last weekend. Once again held at the Perth Convention Centre, the organizers set a new minimum criteria for cars entering.
This was a good thing. No longer were $500 cars with big sound systems on display. The visual quality of the cars entered was far superior to the previous event. There also a larger mix of cars on display. No longer was the show restricted to Import scene.
One thing that was noticeable was the smaller number of cars on display.

The show format was good, visitors on both days appeared to be large and constant during both days. What was missing compared to Autosalon’s in other countries were displays from companies like Nissan, Honda etc displaying their high performance models and more of the performance parts companies. But then again, Perth often misses out on displays like this. Local companies like Alberts Hi-Fi, WA Performance, Tech9Tyres, Just-Car Insurance, Juice Car Polishes, Vibes Sound Systems (came over from the east coast), Perth Street Scene TV and a few others all had displays at the show.

The seasons starts in September with the Whoop Ass Wednesdays and the first major event being the ever popular Fast Friday on October 15 with the Grand Opening on October 30th. Most of the major Drag Events are now two days events and there are 3 Andra Pro Series events schedule – Top Doorslammers, Top Bike and Top Fuel.
Some events not listed this coming season include Hi Tech Titles and Nostalgia Drags. Whether these events will eventuate, we will just have to see.
One new event this season is the Ultimate Bracket event on February 26th.
Saturday February 26 will see the Perth Motorplex conducting a sportsman bracket meeting designed to be a perfect opportunity for Sportsman racers to have a hit out prior to the 40th annual Westernationals the following weekend – and to be a whole heap of fun to boot!
